I really like the idea of using something like Super Whisper or another speech to text app, especially just for like getting my thoughts down really quick. I've used Super Whisper off and on, but I've found it a little bit clunky and a little bit slow. It doesn't always pick up my microphone or it switches microphones a lot, and honestly seems like a little bit too much for what I need.
I just want to be able to press some buttons, talk and have the text show up on my computer. I don't want to pay a subscription for it, personally.
For a while I thought about making an open source one, but never got around to it.
Today on Twitter, I saw someone mention Handy, downloaded it, got it set up, and I'm honestly amazed at how fast it is. It seems like it's all local, so it's processing on my computer. It's not using APIs. I think that is why it's so much faster.
I like seeing the builder's face on the home page - his demo is simple but effective!

What I'm noticing that it's not doing where it could be improved is adding some light formatting to my text. It does dump it all as a single paragraph. I guess maybe I could change how I use it 🤔
But again, I love how fast the transcription is.
